Blogging Insights #27–“Repairing” Yourself & Your Blog by Salted Caramel
QUESTION What are you doing to ‘repair’ (re-vamp or update) yourself and your blog during the lockdown?
On my everything and the kitchen sink blog Paperkutzs I decided that my profile needed a major updating. So, after realizing it was running a bit long I decided it needed to be in multiple posts.
Rather than make a enormous profile I created a small profile with links to the parts of each published post. I published each part approximately one week apart. I have published 4 parts and I think I may have one at the most two more to go.
The hard part was telling all the major parts while telling enough background w/o dragging the reader through boredom. I hopefully managed to accomplish this. I also wanted to get into the habit of publishing posts everyday.
At first it seemed like a chore. Ironically, I now look forward too seeing what I had waiting for me everyday and couldn’t wait to see what I would end up posting.
In addition I have a huge desire to get to where I am able to get more comments on the things I post. I get a lot of likes and they are great as well. However, I love chatting with people and seeing what they think about anything.
I have gotten an increase in comments, although I have a ways to go. I have also acquired new followers’ which I adore each and every one.
A positive thing that came out of all of the above is that I started reading more of what other people blogged about. Which has also been helpful in getting new followers. In the process of doing many different types of prompts I have rediscovered my love for writing.
On my blog HandmadeCardCreations I only post my handmade cards that are for sale. I only place cards on my main blog when I make them in response to a challenge or if I am taking an online card making class.
I manage to post daily 99% of the time. On this blog I have under 20 followers. Obviously I hope to increase this and maybe even have an online order someday. However, I love to make and post the cards so even if I don’t have an order I will continue to enjoy the process.
I also have a great time talking to the followers’ I do have on this blog.
I ❤️ love to hear your thoughts so feel free leave a comment
