TUESDAY – ANYTHING POSSIBLE – KREATIVE KUE # 261 BY KEITH CHANNING By Keith Channing
The Mystery Of Mother Nature
On Saturday at what seemed to be O’ Dark Thirty my friend Tamara and I began our road trip. It was extremely early morning which is why it seemed to still be night. We wanted to be sure to be able to make use of as much of the day as possible. We were on our way to the National Park where we had decided to spend our day.
The evening before we were contemplating how we wanted to spend the day. Did we want to to try to hook up with some other people and raft on the river? Or did we just want to explore the surroundings? After discussing it for a bit we decided that we would go that route the rafting route another day. So, it was settled, exploration it was.
It took us about an hour or so before we finally pulled into a parking place at the park. We had a habit of changing our minds in the spur of the moment. Just incase we had a sudden change of heart once we arrived we had loaded the car with enough gear for any option.
In this instance it seemed we were actually going to explore as originally planned. It was a nice day as we set off cameras in hand. We were glad we chose to explore as we were walking through the woods. As we walked we could hear a river somewhere in the distance. There is nothing like the sound of rushing water.
As we wandered we had both snapped a few shots. The photos would be fun to create a memory of our trip. Tamara was walking ahead of me. Apparently my mind was wandering. I was jolted into the present when I stumbled into my friend. As I looked up wondering why I had bumped into her. I realized she had stopped.
I stepped to the side of Tamara to she what had caught her attention. It was then I noticed how much louder the river had become. Tamara andI looked at each other, then back to the river. We were speechless.
I saw Tamara’s lips silently say “WOW”. The river drowned out any noise her voice would have made. We sat on some large rocks near the river’s edge. We sat silently watching with amazement occasionally taking a few pictures.
We Both noticed the day was not a bright as it had been. Without words we both stood up heading back to the car for the ride home. On our ride home we both seemed to be lost in our own thoughts as we listened to the radio.
Besides my thoughts of how nice the day had been I was remembering back to when we were sitting by the river. At the time when human silence prevailed as there was no use talking at that moment.
I remember thinking how powerful, beautiful, heartbreaking, and peaceful Mother Nature could be. There was no stopping or bending of her will.
