Eugi’s Weekly Prompt “Brillance”, June 15, 2020 by Eugi’s Causerie

Brillance

On Saturday morning I woke early. The house was quiet as everyone else was still asleep. I glanced out the window and the sun had just begun to spread a dusty glow across the horizon..

Quietly I stepped outside, before I closed the door I grabbed the quilt off the back of the couch. I then closed the door quietly behind me. The idea of having a small amount of silent alone time with Mother Nature was Amazingly appealing. I wrapped the quilt around my shoulders and sat in one of the rocking chairs on the porch.

Wrapped in the quilt my Mother made I gently rocked in the chair. I remember thinking how rare it was for me to experience such silence. As time passed the range of pastel colors that spread across the sky began to deepen. At the same time the brillance of our life giving fire ball began to peak above the trees. I also began to hear birds start to russle in the trees and begin they joyful songs.

It is amazing how quickly the sun rises once it starts to peak above the trees. Every second is followed by the sun’s brilliance increasing as more of it is exposed.

It is about this time that I notice I have shrugged the quilt onto the back of the rocking chair. It is obvious in these almost summer days that as the sun becomes more eye squintingly brilliant it brings along the beginning of the days heat.

The brilliance of the sun’s rising awakens all of the world’s creatures and begins the day anew. It also brings the sounds of life to the inside of my home. I enjoyed the silence while it lasted. I grabbed the quilt and went inside to begin the day.
