Reena’s Exploration Challenge #147 by Reena Saxena
I can’t imagine a world with no color. Color assists us with so many aspects of life. Such as driving and crosswalks. Just to mention a couple important examples. When I say “us” I am not just referring to humans.
Of course, right out of the gate we may think of a group of human that relish Living in simply black and white. These people are often described as Gothic. As far as I know between clothing and make up and such they stick strictly to black and the white being either their skin or make up.
On the other hand I immediately think of how animals use color. Many animals use color with other rituals, so to speak, to choose their mates.
Then there are animals, both predators and prey that use color as a kind of camouflage. Depending on where their habitats are depends on their type of colors or lack there of these animals use. Prey animals and actually predator animals try to blend into their surroundings to give them the advantage.
As a human I am affected by a deepening of depression in the late fall / and during winter. I am obviously speaking of nature’s color or lack of. After sever years I Have noticed I would feel more “down” when everything outside was in a state of brown.
I would notice as soon as the smallest peaks of green would start to rear its head my mental state would begin to lighten. As I suffer from general depression and anxiety disorder and I have a somewhat difficult time being treated. Color in nature is not helping this aspect of my disorder.
Although I find black and white photos stunning, I would find a purely black and white world a sad place ti live.
