Blogging Insights #e51—Blogging Etiquette—Questions by Sadje by Salted Caramel
Questions
How long should the comment thread be? For example, if some blogger likes your post and says so, you thank them. Then they say that you’re welcome or it’s a pleasure, afterwards most shift to emojis or smiley faces. It can go on for quite some while. So I would really like to know what is the acceptable cutoff number
Well, what seems to happen in my comment thread is a blogger will tell me they like a post. I would them thank them and tell them I hope they have a nice day, week or whatever. The will sometimes responds with a thank you and you too and I will respond with and emoji or two and that is usually he end. Mine don’t usually drag on for of lifetime thankfully.
Reblogging etiquette; I reblog the responses to my prompt as I state in my prompt post. But if I want to reblog a post which I like or was moved by, should I ask them first? What is the accepted protocol for that?
hmmm. Usually when I reblog a post I like I just reblog it and I know they will be sent a note telling them that I reblog get their post.
If I get a message that a fellow blogger has reblog he’d a post of mine I will send them a comment thanking them for the reblog.
I have no idea what the “proper” protocol is.
What should you do when people don’t respond to your comments on their posts? Should you stop commenting on their post or give them a reminder about your comment?
If someone doesn’t respond to a comment I made to their post I just let it go. I continue in what I do which is to respond to every comment that any blogger makes on one of my posts. I just hope that I don’t miss any. I guess I take a do unto others type of out look on any of these types of things.
Along with liking and commenting on other blogger’s blogs I can think of no better way to show my readers / followers how much I appreciate them.
Award posts; These are the trickiest regarding etiquette, as most people don’t even acknowledge that they were nominated for that particular award. What should be the proper way to deal with this situation?
Again, I’m not sure what the “proper”way is in blog land, but I always thank the person who nominated me. I also try to comment a quick congrats when I see someone post that they have been nominated for something. Alas, I know there are some of these posts that I miss.
I ❤️ love to hear your thoughts so please feel free to leave a comment , opinion, or feedback.

Thank you. Unfortunately some life events have caused my lack of new posts. Hoping to get back in the groove before long🤞🤞

I’ve found that doing what is most comfortable for YOU (as the individual) is the best ‘rule’ there is. I don’t think there are set-in-stone rules out there anyway…someone would overthrow them eventually if so. Have a great day Jennifer!
