Questions

  • What news event do you vividly remember hearing about as a child, and where were you?

As a child I have non idea. However when I was 30 years old, a mother of a 4 year old boy and a 7 year old boy I remember the attack of September 11, 2001.

I was at work standing in the doctor’s waiting room that was right next to our office’s waiting room. When the first plane hit I was horrified, but could not believe what I was seeing. When the second plane hit I watched petrified as the building collapsed. When the subsequent news of the other two planes started playing I could think of nothing but getting my kids.

Yes, I know there was nothing I could do about anything, but I was able to leave and at least have the assurance of knowing whatever happened next my kids’ were with me.

I can still see this in my minds eye like it was yesterday.

  • What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?

Funny, since you asked this question I can only think of the ones I like….lol

  • What is one place you shop(ped prior to Covid) that might have surprised people?

I have no idea. I cannot remember ever shopping without my kids so they were kid friendly. Well, except for Christmas and then I was shopping for them so then it would have been toy stores and kids’ clothes.

  • What is your least favorite holiday side dish?

cranberry sauce

  1. Thanks Jennifer for a lovely Share Your World! 9/11 will stick with any American for the rest of their days, it’s truly a hall mark moment in that respect. I was driving to work and kept hearing the news on the radio about it. I thought they were joking, but it kept happening, so I pulled over and called my hubby and told him to turn to CNN and see. He was stunned and then he shouted “Oh my god! There’s a second plane and the building’s falling down!!” I went to work, and found the receptionist in tears, sobbing because she had family in New York City and she couldn’t get through on the phone to check on them. We all got sent home after an hour. It was surreal. Brrrr.

  2. I can vividly remember many details of the days following President Kennedy’s assassination. I was in the second grade. Hearing Burl Ives sing “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” brings me a shudder or two.
