Getting You Tube Set Up Is Making Me Feel Dense

As many of my followers know I have actually managed to get 1 video posted to You Tube.

Since then I have sat down several times to try and get some of the other channel things set up. For instance a banner……sigh

It say it needs to be 2048 x 1552 ok I am working with the same banner that I use on my Paperkutzs blog. Keep things consistent…..right?

I put the banner into a resizing app and make it 2048 x 1552 and save it. I upload it to You Tube and all it shows is a small center piece. Whaaaattt??? Well, I don’t like that…..hit cancel.

So, I try making it smaller, save, upload,…..error…. image must be at least 1024 x 576…..sigh….ok….cancel. I resize again this time to 1024 x 576, save, upload……đŸ„”. What the heck. It still shows using a little middle square.

What am I missing here? Is it just me? I tried using the help, but as we all know the help is never very helpful….sigh

Okay, let me take a break from that and try to link this website(blog) to my You Tube channel. Well, I see it has a wordpress.com link, but that is obviously not what I want.

I was going around in You Tube and You Tube Studio circles. At times I would get totally lost.. I would be working on some screens and then suddenly they turn into totally different screens. What the heck is going on here? What am I missing?

Is it really this hard to upload a banner and link your website to my You Tube channel??

You Tube says I can’t have a distinct You Tube Channel link until I have a banner and 100 subscribers. At this rate I will never be able to get that far…..sigh

  1. The struggle is real! Having just set up my own channel I feel this post so much. I had the same issues with the banner which is why it looks awful. And the profile pic. And everything. YouTube was griping about the profile pic file size so I had to MS Paint it and shrink it down, twice!, until it was happy.

And another thing…my phone apparently saves pics as HEIC files now instead of the good ole .jpgs. So pic from phone, put into app to make it .jpg or .png, transfer to PC, resize, AND then upload to YouTube. Why’s this so difficult?!

    • Well, hopefully I am not giving you thing information twice, but I don’t see where it what I typed went. If you are still looking for information to set up your you tube banner you can do a search for Your Tube banner set up template. However, I found signing up for a few canva.com account and using their blank You Tube template worked better for me. I had to do a little back and forth to get it sized right, but finally got it with a lot less frustration here is a link to what I ended up with if you are interested. https://youtube.com/channel/UCcen90k-Xm4eIVy0xQcciXg

I still have a lot to figure out, but this seemed to be my biggest issue. Hope this helps.

  2. Good luck with it and just keep going. It took me several months to get to where I could add a banner. I didn’t even get as far as you did – it kept kicking me back to my google account info and I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. I subscribed to your channel. Just keep uploading videos and slowly do some research and you’ll figure it out eventually. You will get more and more subscribers as you post more. I love your banner – it’s so colorful and cheerful, you’ll get it on your YouTube channel eventually. Don’t let it get you down because it is very frustrating. You’d think there would be a YouTube video to help, but I haven’t been able to find one.😊
