Trying To Get Past The Heartbreak…

After several days of a terribly depressed household my husband found this little parrotlet on Birdsnow.com. Unfortunately they had no Lovebirds. We knew Luna was one of a kind. We also felt guilty for looking at other birds so soon, but we needed something.

This is Belle when we got her she was 7 weeks old and weaned. It took her several days to start to get comfortable. Now she is quite the little stinker.

Although it is hard to tell from this picture she is quite small. I think she is a little smaller than a parakeet, maybe the same size. She is a little more hesitant when things are bigger than she is.

However, unlike a lovebird and a parakeet she acts more parrotfish. One example is she likes to hold something in her foot while she explores or eats it. She is still working on the agility to do this.

She is sweet and likes her head scratched, but when she is not kept busy she is quite the stinker. She is very smart and can be taught things.

Yesterday I had to let the dog out so I left her on ther little play yard. When I came back inside I could see whe was not there. I started calling her name and each time I called her name she chirped which made it much easier to find. She had moved to the arm of a couch.

We went out yesterday and got her a nice cage. So, she can move out of the little baby container she sleeps in. She spends all day out with us, unless we have to run an errand. However, the last couple of mornings I have let her out she has been wired for sound, so she needs a bigger space where she can move around more until we get her out in morning.

I ❤️ love to hear your thoughts so please feel free to leave a comment , opinion, or feedback.
